Qualitative research

Qualitative Research Group Imageup

Qualitative research is an important part of the work that we do and one in which we have particular expertise. Although qualitative research might seem straight forward to the outsider it requires specialised knowledge and skill.

We provide the full range of qualitative research services including:

  • Focus groups
  • In-depth, structured and semi-structured interviews
  • Case studies
  • Stakeholder consultations
  • Needs identification and analysis.

We also have expertise in participatory research processes including:

  • Action research
  • Most significant change technique
  • Delphi technique.

We have extensive experience in conducting qualitative research with diverse groups including employers, service providers, academics, program participants, parents, apprentices, and Indigenous people in rural and remote communities.

Sensitive topics require skilled facilitation, effective probing techniques and careful management of group dynamics. We have successfully conducted research around the sensitive issues of breast cancer, restorative justice, gay and lesbian rights, parenting and family relationships.

We fit the method to the purpose taking account of the key issues and the desired outcomes of the research.

Our skilled interviewers collect high quality, valid data.

We maximise participants’ involvement by being flexible about when and where the research is conducted.

Ongoing analysis from field to client means that additional issues can be explored as they surface in the research.

We actively seek out new techniques ensuring that our clients can choose from the full range of options for each project.
